WAPDA thrash PTV in President’s Trophy

Samiullah Niazi bowls SNGPL to victory over SBP.

Wapda recorded a comprehensive innings win over PTV in a sixth round match of the President’s Trophy played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Resuming at the overnight score of 172 for 3, PTV who were forced to follow-on were rolled over after an addition of 97 runs. Yasim Murtaza top-scored with a fighting knock of 69 runs off 131 balls and Fahadul Haq scored 67 runs. Wapda ran out comfortable winners through a superb bowling effort led by Sarfaraz Ahmed who snared five wickets for 93 runs while Asif Ali grabbed three wickets.

In another match, SNGPL recorded a 109-run win over SBP. The match between the two teams was played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore; the bankers resumed their 314-run chase for an outright win on the last day of the match at the overnight score of 81 for one.

SNGPL bowling duo of Samiullah Niazi and Yasir Shah was in fine form as they made life difficult for SBP batsmen who caved in for 216 runs. Rameez Raja Jr top-scored with 45 runs, Usman Arshad scored 34 while Mohammad Saad remained unbeaten on 32.

Meanwhile, the match between NBP and KRL ended in a draw after the final day of the encounter was lost to heavy fog at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Pakistan Test discard Fawad Alam scored an unbeaten 112 for the bankers during the tie.

Peshawar records thumping win over Lahore

Lahore Ravi were hammered by an innings and 39 runs on the fourth and final day of Quaid-e-Azam trophy Group one fixture played at the Arbab Niaz stadium in Peshawar.

Resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 105 for three, Lahore were sent packing for 236 runs. Jehangir Mirza was the main run getter for the tourists with a score of 72 runs.

Jibran Khan claimed four wickets in Lahore’s second innings.

The match between Faisalabad and Hyderabad played at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad ended in a draw as the hosts succeeded in batting out the stipulated overs with one wicket in their second innings intact in pursuit of a 305-run target.
