Embezzlement: Two forest guards arrested

The investigation report was sent to the Lahore High Court, which had later cancelled bail of the two accused.

Police on Thursday arrested two forest guards on charge of embezzling Rs50 million.


Police said Special Assistant to Chief Minister Chaudhry Shafqat Hussain Panda and an inspection team had visited the Bhakkar Forest division on May 2012 and found that many Dalbergir Sissoo (sheesham) trees worth million of rupees were missing.

They said a forest guard, Allah Bukhsh, had submitted an application to the Anti Corruption Establishment director saying that forest guards- Maskeenullah and Hashmat Ali- had sold 5,101 Sheesham trees worth Rs50 million from Danwana Minor, Klor Minor, Main Wire Minor, Randro Minor 3-R Road and from other canals of the Bhajja forest division. The ACE investigation had recommended a judicial inquiry into the complaint.

The investigation report was sent to the Lahore High Court, which had later cancelled bail of the two accused. Bhakkar Anti Corruption police on Thursday arrested the accused and got three days remand from a court.
