SNGPL make stuttering start to season

Team all-out for 178 against Port Qasim in first President’s Trophy match.

KARACHI: SNGPL started their defence of the President’s Trophy against Port Qasim in disappointing style as they were bowled out for just 178 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Mohammad Rizwan made the major contribution with 52, while Taufiq Umar also chipped in with 24 as Port Qasim’s Abdul Rauf did the major damage by taking five wickets for 52 runs. In reply, Port Qasim were 85 for four at the end of day one with Shahzaib Hasan contributing 28.

Meanwhile in Karachi, National Bank were 123 for three in the first innings with Sami Aslam unbeaten at 59, having bowled out PIA for 135.

In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Abbottabad ended the day at 259 for eight with Mohammad Naeem making 75 while Rehan Afridi remained unbeaten at 58, after Karachi Blues had won the toss and decided to field first.
