KARACHI:

The police confirmed on Friday that the three alleged terrorists, who were killed in the blasts in Manghopir on Thursday night, were residents of Lyari.

The police believe that the blast took place because of manhandling of explosives by the alleged terrorists.

A senior CID police officer Raja Umer Khattab told The Express Tribune that the deceased were identified as Rafiullah Baloch, Abdul Majid Baloch and Saqib alias Saqib Punjabi. "The first two were members of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan while Punjabi was with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi." According to the officer, the suspects were planning to carry out a joint terror activity. "This group works between Karachi and Balochistan," said Khattab.

SHO Ghulam Hussain Korai said that samples of their DNA have been sent for tests to confirm their identities while the SIM cards and broken parts of the cell phones were also sent to the forensic lab.
