Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for District West, Javed Alam Odho stated that the three persons killed were terrorists attempting to plant explosive material weighing an estimated four to five kilograms, when the explosive devices went off prematurely. As a result, all three suspected terrorists were killed.
The DIG said the criminals were planning an explosion for Friday.
The bomb was attached to a motorcycle. Police have recovered NICs of the dead from the site, confirming the identities of the dead. Ball bearings were also found in the area after the blast.
Police have cordoned off the area and are trying to locate any additional bomb that may be planted by the terrorists.
Reports of the blast in Karachi follow blasts in three other provincial capitals of the country including in Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta. At least 6 people have reportedly been killed in all the blasts with at least 50 injured.

ShukranAllah, don't know how many more these people will kill. People are quick to blame Taliban and I'm not saying they should not be blamed but you need to remember that there are more than 50 groups operating for their own 'games' by using Taliban's name. You need to do peace talks with Taliban & eradicate the dirt left. Of course Taliban won't take it lightly but the ones who don't cooperate should be dealt with. You need to give harsh punishments to terrorists, raid madrasahs (although in Punjab the govt does keep an eye out because I saw some in Gujranwala being checked), start a campaign to eradicate terrorism from grass roots level such as education, treaties, show them the Hadith where you can't even rebel against your government if they haven't oppressed you, have more people come out taking a stand and much more. You cannot win with bloodshed! It only needs to more.

The Police should ask people to recognize the dead bodies of the terrorists and then hand over the dead bodies to their family members.
The investigations of the Police should not end over here.
After identifying the dead bodies of the terrorists, Police should investigate and peep through the whole pipeline as where these terrorists used to go, with whom they use to meet, what were their cell numbers and with whom they were in constant touch on cell phones.
This will lead the Police to reach to the master minds of the terrorists.
They got what they deserved!
