RAWALPINDI: The mystery behind Brigadier (retd) Sikandar Malik, who along with his family was slaughtered at his home in Rawalpindi last week, was solved on Monday when his son confessed to the murders, Express News reported.

A confessional statement from the son, Captain Haider Ali, read that he had fed his family intoxicating pills first before shooting them.

His two sisters were reportedly asleep when they were killed.

The four bodies were sent to CMH Rawalpindi for medical and legal proceedings.

The police had conducted a forensic examination of the crime scene and reviewed the mobile phone data of the victims. They had found four shell casings of 22mm caliber bullets.

It was earlier been reported that Haider was not in the house when the crimes were committed.

The family hailed from Sialkot and was living in the residential colony of Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital. Dr Malik was the principal of Yusra Medical and Dental College in Soan, Rawalpindi.
