Youth development: Skill enhancement scheme planned

The programme seeks to focus on increased youth engagement in community development and social networking.

ISLAMABAD: The government will soon launch a national programme for skill enhancement throughout the country to provide employable skills to the youth. The plan aims to expand youth vocational training and employment promotion programmes and to expand the youth development centers (YDCs) to achieve the ultimate objective of one youth development in each district. Moreover, under the programme support will also be provided for educational, sports and recreational activities. The programme seeks to focus on increased youth engagement in community development and social networking. Other than this, a plan is on the cards to explore jobs for youth in the Middle East and East Asian countries under an institutional arrangement through the Overseas Employment Corporation.
