On Thursday morning, the party’s lawyer, Senator Farogh Naseem, returned to Karachi, a week after senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar came home. MQM leader Mustafa Kamal, who is also in London, is expected to return home by the end of this week.
Speaking to the media, Naseem said the current situation has become normal for the party and its chief in London. “Honestly speaking, I was very worried till the time I had not gone there, and seen the situation with my own eyes,” he admitted, adding that, “Everything is fine there.”
The time has come for television anchors, who have been spreading rumours against the party chief, to be disappointed. “Very soon, the nation will hear good news,” he said.
Tension had in erupted in June when Scotland Yard had raided the house of Altaf Hussain over suspicion of his involvement in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder.
Following the raid, the police started inquiries into money laundering, and after hundreds of complaints, mostly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf supporters, also initiated probe into accusations that his speeches incite violence.
Agreeing with the lawyer, MQM parliamentarian Khawaja Izharul Hasan said that there was nothing to worry about. “What is actually happening in London is what the Scotland Yard and the Met police are saying - their statements are factual,” he said. “The rest is heresy, and assumptions based on ifs and buts.”
Hasan said that his party is fully cooperating with the police in London. It has, however, submitted its reservations, according to the law, on the inquiries.

Poor people of Karachi will suffer again if MQM is to remain. What has MQM given to Karachites? Bhattas, violence etc despite remaining in power for so long.
@Sama: The voters of MQM
“Very soon, the nation will hear good news" : Senator Farogh Naseem In Sha Allah :-) Jiyee Altaf Hussain Bhai
@Aysha M: There are more than 2.5 million people in Karachi...way more.
The most accurate statement in this article is this:
MQM parliamentarian Khawaja Izharul Hasan said that there was nothing to worry about. “What is actually happening in London is what the Scotland Yard and the Met police are saying – their statements are factual,” he said. “The rest is heresy, and assumptions based on ifs and buts.”
What the MNA has pointed out is unfortunately what the Media and us Pakistanis indulge in most of the time. That is, Astray from facts, and jump to conclusions based on our own prejudices, and also have utmost reliance on rumors and 'sunee sunaee baatein'.
@Aysha M: Alwasys inspiring
@waseem: I second him as everyone knows very well the real face of MQM leader and their party workers. The way they destroyed the business community and common people safety and law and order situation, it is really inevitable. I salute Altaf hussain supporters that how shameless they are and how they protect him by all meand. No matter if Altaf hussain escape from this british investigation by any deal ir ordeal, but what he will do on the day of judgement. Can he decive Allah SubhanAllah ( nauzbillah)... Allah just loosing the rope of Alyaf hussain all such type of underworld leaders before it get tightened.
It was all media hype and a feat of incredible irresponsibility on the part of some anchors to base their entire argument on speculations. They failed to analyze the investigation process and wait for the charges to be pressed. There was a complete departure of reason, character and substance from some of the talk shows. A massive amount of time went into brooding over the aftermath of a probable conviction. Most of the anchors leaped into time which brought them closer to their speculated verdict on a case which has not yet reached the court room. A very poor show by the media.
@waseem: not many but a measly 2.5million people in Karachi would disagree with you
why "tension" if not guilty. MQM leaders said it and we believed it....hah... thats funny but lets wait for a new story on this same topic.
Some pressure tactics have resulted in some normality and it looks that there are some other key powerful players involved in money laundering.
@Falcon: 'Media Sensationalism' is what drives Pakistanis. Please try not to be so caustic. Salams
Damn!!! Now what else to discuss on television...... It was such a great discussion topic. Now it will be back to some stupid headline or breaking news
"Very soon, the nation will hear good news,”...I wonder if the "nation" agrees with these sentiments.
Its v obvious that some kind of pressurizing tactics were being applied .. It wud be nteresting to see what explanations will the anchor persons and sensationalizing media groups will now offer
