Petition filed to challenge the appointment.

LAHORE: Justice Shezada Mazhar of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought a reply from the Punjab government on a petition challenging the appointment of Ahad Cheema as director general of the Lahore Development Authority.

The judge directed the provincial government to submit its reply by June 26. The petition says Cheema is a junior officer unfit for the position. It says the appointment was made on political grounds and was therefore illegal and unconstitutional.

It is crazy when the measurement of fitness to a post is seniority only. All it does is promote incompetence and perpetuates the status quo.
