In the first sign of a break from the past, newly-appointed Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan reached his office without any protocol on Saturday, in sharp contrast to his predecessor Rehman Malik who would always be escorted by a police convoy consisting of around a dozen vehicles.
The surprise move, if adopted as routine, will save millions of rupees of taxpayer money and mark the beginning of a new era in the Public Secretariat.
Talking to the media, Chaudhry Nisar said he would not use government helicopters for routine visits as well.
He maintained that peace is a provincial matter and he was ready to facilitate provincial governments in any way. He said he would help the provinces by providing intelligence and accommodating their requests for the deployment of federal security forces to maintain peace. He also said that the federal government would put all politics aside in order to enhance cooperation and coordination with the provinces.
“The country does not need politics but progress,” he said while elborating.
Nisar said the federal government will establish close contacts with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Pakistan Peoples Party government in Sindh.
“We have a special programme for Islamabad as well, which will be developed into a model district,” he said.

definitely they will do and play dirty politics but center with such healthy presence will not be available again so they should use this power tactfully they should use pressure techniques if not intervene directly. But they are the only ones in position to sort out this mess.
And if such healthy mandate comes again it will be PML again so why wait for next term.
If I remember correctly in last PML N government they put Mr.Moin Qureshi and he really did good job at that time also there is much violence but after this move situation got much better.
They can do it yes they may be some controversies but if you want to clean some thing you will get some dirt on you. but latter you can overcome this using proper media compain
@Bari: But can you guarantee that both PPP and MQM will not try to play sindh card if the centre intervenes? Both MQM chief as well as Sharjeel Memon have already started doing so. Just read their initial statements. Centre can only help to the extent it doesn't make itself controversial.
Well, start is very good! Every deptt is trying to afloat in news by taking these kinda steps, I wish they will carry the same... Sab sey Pahle Pakistan
That is good if followed throughout tenure. On the other hand I have forced to think what his duties if maintaining security is just a provincial matter. Being a citizen of Karachi I don't look to Qaim Ali Shah or Sindh government capable to keep law and order in the province neither do provincial opposition parties want peace in the city.
So where we pin over hopes when he on first day in office puts his hand up ??!!!! only facilitation won't work. What measure he is going to take to force sindh govrnment to end this blood shed.
and why make ISB a model district, means its in much much better state then rest of major cities. Do make a model district which have one of worst condition so that we can say yes this govrnment can do something.
however I am seeing another horror 5 year term in Sindh (No progress more violence more arms more polarization) attitude of the federal minister should be to fix the problem not to sit aside after saying its not my responsibility !!!
Well I thin you should use protocol considering the impunity with which terrorists can launch attacks anywhere...
Much appreciated it should stay this way too .... Wese Yea to abi start hai, agae agae daikho Khan Saab ke wja se N league ko Kitna kuch or chorna pare ga. :p
Now keep it up Chaudhry Sahib, but, without compromising your security.God bless you!!!!!
Good beginnings. Ch. Nisar should continue with this example and make sure the bureaucracy falls into step as well. No more cars and drivers for everyone. They should pay from their own pocket if they want these luxuries.
