ISLAMABAD:

Even after the lapse of more than a month, the prosecution in the judges’ detention case failed to submit a complete challan against former president Pervez Musharraf.

On Saturday, the anti-terrorism court hearing the case resumed proceedings. During the hearing, however, Islamabad police special prosecutor Amir Nadeem Tabish failed to submit a complete challan against Musharraf. He put down his failure to a delay in issuing the notification of his appointment as a prosecutor in the judges’ detention case.

Expressing concern at the prosecution’s failure to submit a challan against Musharraf, the former president’s cousel Ilyas Siddiqui complained that the police are bound to submit the document within 14 days of taking the accused in remand.

Sharing Siddiqui’s concern, the court directed the police to submit the challan by June 6.

Meanwhile, Inspector Mubarik Ali informed the court that the police have approached the Supreme Court registrar for recording the statements of the judges in question. The Secretariat police station house officer had earlier approached the SC registrar, but did not receive a positive response. The main complainant has already disassociated himself from the case.

@subhan: Pakistan full of people whose hands are dirty. Then why single out Musharraf only? This is the revenge of all the institutions media, judiciary, parliament, politicians etc. Remember they have to pay the price as well.

Because they have no proof against him, they are now going to present him to open court, i.e. pave the way for his assassination.

Is this a fair treatment to former army chief and president?

I am fearing I am gonna hear a victory from Taliban over his assassination.
