LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Friday rapped the caretaker government for poor security arrangements and for its failure to protect the “liberal forces”. It demanded special security arrangements for general elections and protection of lawyers. The bar made these demands by unanimously adopting a resolution in a general house meeting chaired by LHCBA President Abid Saqi. The house condemned the murder of advocate Chaudhry Zulfiqar in Islamabad and called it a failure of the government. Saqi lamented that liberal forces were being targeted in three provinces and a few political parties were given free hand. He said that it was a constitutional duty of the law-enforcing agencies to protect every citizen. Former LHCBA presidents Malik Saeed Hassan, Ahmad Awais, Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry, Jahangir A Jhoja, Pakistan Bar Council Member Azam Nazir Tarrar, Manzoor Gillani and Allah Bukhsh Gondal also spoke on the occasion.  In the end, fateha was offered for Chaudhry Zulfiqar.
