KARACHI: There was double delight for Pakistan as the team not only beat India but also made it to the main round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U14 Championship as the under-14 footballers continued their excellent run at the qualifiers underway in Mashhad.

Midfielder Mohammad Ikhlas found the net early as Pakistan took the lead against their archrivals in the ninth minute. Striker Majeed Khan recorded his name on the scoresheet with a 44th-minute goal as Pakistan won 2-0 for their third successive victory.

Pakistan will now face Iran in their final group match tomorrow. “This has to be our most special win since the players are taking part in an international event for the first time,” coach Hassan Baloch told The Express Tribune.
