More than 8,000 officials would be lodged as part of a security plan for the upcoming general elections in the district, police said on Wednesday.

Aamir Waheed, a police department spokesman said, “Faisalabad district has been divided into eight zones, 19 circles, 79 sectors and 271 sub-sectors.” He said 3,164 polling stations would be set up in the district comprising 8,341 polling booths.

“1,273 polling stations have been declared ‘sensitive’ where additional security force would be deployed,” he added.

Waheed said as many as 3.5 million voters including 1.5million female voters are expected to cast their votes for 11 national assembly and 22 provincial assembly seats in the district.

He said, “An officer of SP rank would supervise the security arrangements at zonal level and an officer of DSP rank would monitor circle level security arrangements.” He said an inspector level officer would be deputed to ensure the security arrangements at the sub-sector level.
