Students on the second day of women’s week exhibited their artistic talents at the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on Friday, according to a press release issued by the university.
In the Naat and Qirat contest, the participants mesmerised the audience with their soulful voices.
In the Qirat competition, Punjab University claimed the first position while Sargodha University and the University of Peshawar obtained second and third positions respectively.
Third position was initially claimed by a participant of the host university but her withdrawal meant a student from Punjab University took the prize.
Dr Shehzadi Pakeeza, Head of FJWU’s Department of Islamic Studies, awarded the best overall performance trophy to participants of Sargodha University.
In the painting and photography competitions, students from eight universities showcased their skills on the chosen theme of the day, “Humanity and Human Rights.”
Ten teams took part in the Bait Bazi (verse recitation) contest, whose judges included renowned poets Shamim Ikramul Haq, Dure Shahwar and Mehmooda Ghazia.
The second day activities concluded with a performance by all the participants in the singing competition, which was divided into two categories.
The third day of Women’s Week on Saturday will host a number of events including mushaira, bilingual declamation and a drama competition.
