The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Friday that caretaker Prime Minister is not obligated to adhere to Article 62 and 63 of the constitution, Express News reported.

According to the Article 62, an individual cannot be qualified to be the member of Parliament unless he is an honest and loyal citizen of Pakistan and is enrolled as a voter in any electoral roll. However, Article 63 says that any member of Parliament can be disqualified if he ceases to be a citizen of Pakistan, or acquires the citizenship of a foreign state and has been convicted by a court.

Article 63 and 63 are binding only for parliament member, ECP member Shehzad Akbar said.

He further added that constitution does not constrain caretaker PM from having a dual nationality.

Moin Qureshi was a dual national and so was Shaukat Aziz (Shaukat spent 30 years in New York working for Citibank. Are you telling me he was just a green card holder for all that time? Hogwash).
