LAHORE:

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab’s boycott of outpatient departments at public hospitals continued for the eighth day on Wednesday, as doctors examined patients in tents set up outside.

Addressing a press conference at the Services Hospital hostel on Wednesday, YDA Punjab President Dr Javaid Aheer and General Council members Dr Usman and Dr Ajmal demanded that an FIR be registered against those who beat up doctors in Gujranwala.

They said that the YDA had “dedicated their protest to patients”. The doctors had decided not to go on strike for the sake of patients, they said.

They said that their protest would not end until all the YDA members transferred and sacked after the Gujranwala incident were restored. They accused the government of victimising YDA members.
