Three people were killed and one person injured in a firing incident in Swat’s Kabal tehsil.

According to local police, suspected militants opened fire on a pickup in Qalagey village, killing three people of the spot and wounding another. The dead were identified as driver Syed Arif, Gul Zarin and Amir – all from the same family. Police reached the spot to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, in Sarbala village of Kabal, two schools were torched by suspected militants. According to local sources, the girls and boys primary schools were burnt late Saturday night.

The doors, mats, and windows in both the schools were burnt.

“I received an emergency call at 12:30 last night from the watchman of our school that some unidentified people have torched both schools. Luckily, the locals saw the fire and rushed to the spot and put out the blaze,” Abdul Samad, a teacher in the boys school, told The Express Tribune.

Sarbala village borders Dir district, located at a distance of about 40 kilometres from Mingora.
