Distributing anti-army material: Hizbut Tahrir activists remanded

The judge order the police to produce the accused in the next hearing in December for further proceedings.

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police have obtained three-day physical remand of two activists of the banned Hizbut Tahrir (HuT) outfit from an area magistrate on Wednesday. Magistrate Muhammad Akram handed over HuT activists, brothers Shahid and Zahid Sadiq, to the New Town Police for three days after they were arrested from Chandni Chowk on Tuesday for hanging posters and banners inscribed with material against Pakistan Army. The judge also ordered the police to produce the accused in the next hearing in December for further proceedings. The police had nabbed the two brothers from Chandni Chowk for placing posters and distributing pamphlets with language maligning the army and its chief. The police also recovered banners from their possession.
