To protest against Israeli aggression against Gaza and express solidarity with the Palestinians, Jamaat-e-Islami in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) took out rallies in Peshawar and other parts of the province on Friday. The party held a protest at its provincial headquarters Markaz-al-Islami on Grand Truck Road.
The protest was attended by JI’s leaders such, as Provincial Chief Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, Information Secretary Israrullah and Peshawar District Chief Bahrullah Khan, among others.
“Israel existence as a state is illegal,” said the provincial chief while addressing protestors. He warned leaders across the Muslim world to stand up against the aggression. “The US is trying to appease the Jewish lobby by not listening to the plight of Palestinians,” said Ibrahim. “But the sacrifices rendered by the Palestinians will ultimately result in wiping the Jewish state from the world map,” he added.
Bahrullah said that Israeli aggression so far has killed about 200 Palestinian men, women, and children, but human rights organisation and the international community has looked the other way.
He also criticized the role of the United Nations and its Security Council. The protesters carried placards and chanted slogans against Israel and the US.
A JI spokesperson said that similar protest were also taken out in Nowshera, Karak, Mardan, Upper and Lower Dir, Batkhela, Abbotabad, Swabi, Charsadda, Haripur, Mansehra, DI Khan and Chitral. The protesters also condemned the attempt on the life of JI’s former chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed’s in Mohmand Agency.
