“Every day, Hazaras, Shias and Sunnis were being targeted... No incidents took place in Quetta when the mobile services were blocked and motorcycle riding was banned on Muharram 1,” Malik said while speaking to the media in Islamabad on Tuesday.
He added, “75% casualties were lessened and 60% crimes went down. FC was also ordered to take total action and the situation has improved now.” Action was also taken in rural areas of Balochistan which helped averting incidents of terrorism, he said.
Dispelling rumours about the presence of the army in Sui, Malik said that only FC personnel are present in the area who are protecting the Sui pipeline. Outfits such as Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Baloch Republican Army (BRA) have planted mines around Sui making it impossible for people to move around without FC escort, the minister claimed.
Non-custom paid vehicles
The interior minister said that the problem of numerous non-custom paid vehicles in the province is also being tackled with.
“More than 100,000 vehicles were checked, tinted windows of 3,000 vehicles were removed while 900 non-custom paid vehicles were handed over to customs authority,” Malik stated, while adding that 60,000 non-custom paid vehicles have been identified.
He requested people to regularise their vehicles and pay customs otherwise their vehicles will be confiscated. “If you want to avoid raids at your homes or face embarrassment on the roads, pay the customs or your vehicle will be confiscated.”

how long this action can STOP suicide bombings ? treat the root cause not the symptoms....the govt has failed to seal the borders & control checks on the vehicles / transport that ferry terrorists & explosive materials...where are those explosive detection vehicles & x-ray equipments, imported from China few years back, with such fun fare etc; & with huge cost $230 million & who is going to foot the bill - we the poor people & tax-payers, yet we guys seem to have forgotten this ?

Yes, its a demand of time. We have to stand by you Rehman Malik, whatever you are doing its all of us. We can contact our loved once later, but that time we should care about those thousands of people who are paying tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and lost their lives. What about their mothers and families. Being a Pakistani we know all and many of our families have suffered alot, Good Job Rehman Malik. We are with You.

Believe me or not I never own a cell phone until I was forced to keep one officially, hence I have limited reasons to provide for switching off my official phone. This is the worst thing I have to carry, nevertheless it has some benefits too.

Such action in Baluchistan was ok, but cannot compare it same with the contribution & loss of business via such action in Karachi...one day loss thru any disturbances / strike etc; Karachi suffers Rs 100 billion loss in terms of business...can this be compared with Baluchistan....beside, the govt before announcing such drastic measures must make alternative arrangement so that minimum hardship is given to the poor people who use motor cycle as the only means of transport for him & his family....the govt should have announced banning pillion by men only...this should be enforced strictly...the govt should create public awareness about old looking MC or any MC lying around un-attended for a long time etc;& report; as these are mainly used as stationary item to implant explosives....what Mr Malik is doing is just fire-fighting symptoms instead of going into its roots....Mr Malik`s actions are only temporary solutions....even without ban ( as it was set aside by SHC ) no incident took place on the first day of Muharram but incident happened on the second day ? realising this now Mr Malik has sought SHC permission for 10 days...? now mulitiply Rs 100 billion x 10 days & calculate the total loss this country will suffer due to such stupid action of the govt...
This really isn't a reason to celebrate; Rehman Malik needs to tell how he plans to root out these terrorist groups altogether. Does he think blocking mobile phones will persuade the LeJ to give-up its activities?
If blocking cell phone services and motorcyle riding is the remedy Interior Ministry is giving for terrorism, then why dont they completely block cell phone services and pillion riding for good? Crazy people in the government having crazy ideas.
Mr. Malik do not treat the symptoms. Please find and treat the root cause.
I agree with Mr Rehman Malik. The court should either take responsibility or let others do it. In good old Army they would say" Lead me or Follow me, or get out of my way".

We can’t deny the fact that lesser the communication facilities thus lesser would be the coordination between the activities organizer either they are native or positive. Currently we are indulged into useless and excessive communications that has made us hyper communicative beings. One of my latest EID was highly relaxing due to blockade of cellular services, otherwise willingly or unwillingly I have to send replies to hundreds of texts, resulting in ignoring many loving people around you. We are in state of WAR, and these are abnormal circumstances!!
