FAISALABAD: The Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) has expelled 20 students for trying to get free laptops for the second time. On May 16, 2012, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had distributed 11,000 laptops among Faisalabad students including 4,735 from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and 6,265 from the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) in the first phase. Laptops had been distributed among GCUF students on November 8 in the second phase. The expelled students had submitted forms to acquire laptops despite having received them in the first phase. The students’ fraud was noted during an examination of the forms and their case was handed over to the Discipline Committee. The committee recommended expulsion. Following the committee’s recommendations, GCUF Vice Chancellor Dr Zakir Hussain ordered the expulsion of the BS Electrical Engineering students from the university. Talking to The Express Tribune, Dr Zakir Hussain said that the students had been caught as a result of the diligence of the university’s administration department.
