SWAT: A fire erupted in a forest of Kalam Tehsil, smouldering precious trees on Thursday. Locals said the fire is spreading quickly and have appealed to the government for support. The fire broke out in a forest of Ankar Damuk locality, razing precious Cedar trees on a large scale, official said. “Strong winds are blowing in the valley and if timely steps are not taken to bring the fire under control, it will engulf the neighbouring forests and residential areas,” said Hamid Kalami, a local journalist. The forest department has also sought the help of the army to extinguish the flames.
