In a chat with media during his visit to International Defence Exhibition and Seminar IDEAS-2012 Pakistan in Karachi, the Defence Minister said that these drones do not have the capacity to carry arms, yet. He added that IDEAS-2012 will help create awareness about new trends and technology in defence.
He added that the private sector worldwide was playing a prominent role in defence production activities in Pakistan, which he believes is a valuable engagement for Pakistan since defence production has primarily been restricted to the public sector.
"The government has been extending all possible support and facilitation to our private sector to come up and play a front role in this important national task," Qamar stated.

Put ammunition on the damn thing and start taking out terrorists. We are too far into the mess to just do surveillance.
To carry far range surveillance using drones one needs GPS and military satellites to carry information from the drones and back to stations via encrypted channels. Also, arm carrying drones need this kind of connectivity. Unless SUPARCO launches a military satellite in near future it is diff for Pakistani drones to carry arms and do recon for more than 2 KM range (or whatever short range radio allows)
