The suspension will begin Friday night and will continue till Saturday, the official said.
The Government of Sindh, issued a notificiation on Tuesday, saying that it will be a public holiday from October 26 to 29, 2012 for all its employees and workers in the province.
On Eidul Fitr this year, cellular services were suspended for one day across the country causing inconvenience to mobile phone users.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik had said that the services were suspended to avert untoward terrorist incidents in the country.
Cell phone services were also blocked in as many as 15 urban centres of the country on account of Ishq-e-Rasool (pbuh) Day which caused the cellular operators an estimated loss of Rs600 million.

Hasn’t the Rehman Malik Minister heard of satellite phones or through sheer force of habit, he is being too clever by half?
Its not like we need to progress or anything ... who needs cellphones, computers and that stupid thing called internet... we happy with cutting our cows thank you very much!
Why don't you suspend Rehman Malik for sometime?
stupid peoplias.
so on this eid again i wld not speak with my mother, my mother's and mine imprecation with u Rehman Malik
Isn't it a sunnah to greet and wish people Eid Mubarak verbally and not through sms, mms etc.?
@DIL SAY: i want to support my govt alllllll the way i suggest y just eid day lets block mobile services forever so they cant detonate bombs or communicate ever....and remove transportation so they cant move from one place to the other better yet irradicate electricity altogether....lets shut down the media so they remain less informed.....how about stopping food supply to the nation so they just might starve to death..... brilliant idea!
@IceSoul: "Why not impose a year round curfew across the country? That ought to take care of most terrorist attacks! I wonder if any country had a interior minister as inept as we do."
Ever since Chidambaram moved to finance ministry and we were stuck with Shinde - you have strong competition. One is a Zardari sycophant and the other a Sonia sycophant.

The government cannot nab terrorists who are in minority but have sound reason's to block the cell phones to punish the majority of the people.
Had Rehman Malik played the game "Chor aur Sipahi" during his childhood, he would have never told to block the entire cellular network during Eid-ul-Azha holidays.
there is method to this seeming madness. Zardari and his league of advisors have figured out a systematic way of uprooting terrorism - i.e. by removing the modern facilities and tools at their disposal. Step 1 - Destroy and render unusable the railway system so that extremists cannot easily commute to their destination to cause chaos. Step 2 - Systematic blackouts and power cuts. This way extremists cannot plan in advance or be able to use electronic means of storage or communication reliably. Step 3 - Take out the cellular infrastructure in the country. This one is under beta testing and not finalized yet. The govt. is evaluating how the public would react to this measure. Hence they are disabling the service only on holidays. Eventually the cellular service will go the same route as the railways and power.
So what if the common man is living the life of a caveman? As long as the terrorists can be stopped, it was all worth it. right??
We all need to come together and vote PPP for 5 more years. This is so that they can complete their project and permanently turn off the lights in Pakistan. This way there is no reason for terrorists to operate here. PROBLEM SOLVED!!
Donations please... elections are just round the corner!
@usman786:
Oh yeah, so they must suffer because of that. We definitely need more public opinions like yours.
Mobile companies should continue to suffer bca they skim billion and do not do corporate social resp or welfare of employee. They must donate 300 million for. Flood victims which are ignored by media and nation
i just cant call my relatives on eid......wtf???
@Nasir: LOL. you silly boiiiiii. Tried telepathy with your Kasaiee?
I just can't imagine the stupidity here....don't you think terrorist must have discovered alternate ways to attack so far…?? Come-on, they must also read this news & they can plan ahead…without mobile service as well…. [kya 1970s, 80s me terror attacks nahe hotey they jab mobile nahe tha….]
He should also suspend services daily from 12 am to 6 am in order to protect youth of our country
instead of appreciating the steps of govt and law enforcement agencies most of us prove our sadism to others why govt blocks celluler services? well if we use our mind we can understand that 1. it takes away the easest way of communication and coordination from terrorists 2. it also eliminates the risks of detonation of bombs which use mobiles/cell phones etc.
Its not an easy task to protect 180 million. I think if we dont know how to support our govt and LEA's we must not critisize on our bases of ignorance or in fashion to prove we are big intellectuals and experts
The terrorists must be laughing thier pants off! Isn't this what they always wanted, to force the state to take drastic measures?
This is absolutely ridiculous. Its unacceptable to turn this into a regular feature come a day of celebration, be it Eid, 12 Rb or whatever. Only in Pakistan will you find the Government resorting to such lame measures to what they deem as "countering a possibe act of terrorism".
Eid Mubarak to my all friends and family in advance.
Eid Mubarik in Advance to everyone including legendary Rehman Malik :)
Who does that? its all malik decisions.duh!
thats just stupid. Now how will i contact my kasayi on eid day??
Pakistan is the first country who fight terrorism without firing a bullet and by blocking the Mobile services.. no one can reach the wisdom and generousness of Rehman Malik.
