KARACHI: KESC defeated Army 2-1 to replace them in second place in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL).

After a goalless first half, KESC made double inroads after the interval. Army got a late consolation through a penalty kick.

According to captain Essa Khan, it was an extremely competitive match and defeating Army on their home ground was a boost for them.

“It’s all about getting to the top at the moment,” Essa told The Express Tribune. “Just like us, Army are playing their best football as well. The match tends to get very intense and the environment on the field can become a bit hostile at times.”

Meanwhile, Muslim FC stunned four-time PPFL champions Wapda 3-1 in Lahore. With the win Muslim FC stay in sixth place, while Wapda remain at seventh.

In the last match of the day, PMC Atletico drew their ninth match in the league against Afghan FC. As a result, Afghan FC replace PMC Athletico in 13th position.
