Asha Bhosle's daughter commits suicide

MUMBAI: Varsha Bhosle, daughter of playback singer Asha Bhosle, committed suicide at their Peddar Road residence here Monday. Varsha, 56, shot herself in the head, police said.
The incident occurred around 12.30pm.
Police have arrived on the spot and are investigating. No suicide note has been found from the spot yet. According to police, Varsha pumped two rounds into herself.
The entire area has been cordoned off and people are being restricted from going near the place. A flat in the building is also occupied by Asha’s elder sister and singing legend Lata Mangeshkar.
Varsha, who worked as a freelance journalist, was divorced and had also tried to commit suicide in 2008 and 2010 by consuming a heavy dose of sleeping pills. She was, however, immediately taken to the hospital and saved.
Varsha stayed with her mother, who is currently attending a function in Singapore.

Anyway. Sad to hear regardless of what happened, my sympathies and condolences go out to Asha. More help for people who are in this sort of a situation is needed on our side of the border too, emergency helplines etc. Who knows how many people commit suicide due to hardships in our own nation. RIP.

Very unfortunate but no one can shoot twice in his or her own head. There is certainly someone else also involved, who, is for the investigators to find out. Anyhow, if her daughter was 56 than kudos to Asha Jee who is still very much in singing.Recommend

A divorcee and a freelancer- with an over the top famous mom who had everything- fame, money and love of a husband and a family. It is not difficult to deduce the reason of suicide. I sympathy the woman, who had no chance at a second marriage maybe coz of her second name, a second hand fame and nothing much to her name- to say the least about the love of children at the age of 56!!!
It is very difficult for general public to realize her agony- but severe depression must have been the reason!

SOme of the singers who have healed the wounds of others have themselves led such sad lves- Jagjit Singh, Asha…Hope God gives her the strength to cope with this.

Ayesha Bhosle’s songs have been playing in Pakistan streets/homes/markets since decades and you will still hear them off and on walking through almost anywhere. Sure this was ayesha’s daughter, of course not her so the question may arise whether it should be a story but I don’t see anything wrong with it as ayesha has been a household name in pak for ages now.

Very sad news. Our condolences to Asha Bhosle and the entire family. For some odd
reason Varsha Bhosle expressed great animosity towards Pakistan in her writings. She was certainly a right wing India nationalist and ignored the love and admiration that people in Pakistan had for her mother (and still do). In any case “Rest In Peace” Varsha Bosle. 56 is too young an age to depart from this world. I was really sorry to see hear about this even though she kept a very hostile posture towards Pakistanis. We will wait for Farzana from India to write about her.
