Promoting education: BISP chairperson meets Gordon Brown

Brown says BISP’s programme for educating children of BISP beneficiary families could prove phenomenal.

NEW YORK: Federal Minister and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Farzana Raja during her visit to the United States held a meeting with former Prime Minister of Britain and United Nations’ Special Envoy on Global Education Gordon Brown. Gordon Brown said that BISP’s forthcoming programme for educating children of BISP beneficiary families could prove phenomenal in the promotion of education in Pakistan. The chairperson of the BISP recounted various steps taken by the Government through BISP for uplifting the socio-economic well-being of the poor in Pakistan. She said that more than 3 million non-school going children of beneficiary families registered with BISP will be sent to schools.
