Babur cruise missile is a low-flying, terrain-hugging missile, which can strike targets both at land and sea with pin-point accuracy, the statement added.
According to ISPR, the missile carries stealth features - equipped with modern cruise missile technology of Terrain Contour Matching (TERCOM) and Digital Scene Matching and Area Co-relation (DSMAC). It can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.
The missile was launched from a state-of-the-art Multi Tube Missile Launch Vehicle (MLV), which enhances the targeting and deployment options of Babur Weapon system.
The test was witnessed by Director-General Strategic Plans Division Lieutunent General (retd) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Chairman National Engineering and Scientific Commission (Nescom) Muhammad Irfan Burney, senior officers from the armed forces and strategic organisations.
In today’s test, National Command Authority’s fully automated Strategic Command and Control Support System (SCCSS) was once again employed. It enables robust command and control capability of all strategic assets with round the clock situational awareness in a digitised network centric environment to decision makers at National Command Centre (NCC).
The system has the added capability of real-time remote monitoring of missile flight path. The test consolidates and strengthens Pakistan’s deterrence capability and national security.
The successful test has also been appreciated by the President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, who congratulated the scientists and engineers on their success.

LONG LIVE PAKISTAN
What about One armored thrust from Himachal pardesh to kerala and from there to arunachal pardesh The only race of people we hate,philipnos specially INDIANS because of their stressy jealous? attitude and also unfriendly towards other races INDIA also copy and beg Russia did worst human crimes in Kashmir broken all records of humanity but on same time you must know war between Pakistan India no one of them will exist which for sure can benefit Israel USA while if they unite can become Big SUPER Power as they lived 500 years together under muslim rule in past same faces almost culture languages love each other in many things India better then and same way in many things Pakistan better then India.
@Sardar KHAN: My friend, Hindustan does not need to use its nuclear capability against Pakistan. As your own Army keeps saying, you lack strategic depth. One armored thrust from Rahimyar Khan to Sukkur, and Pakistan is cut into two.
Moreover nuclear weapons are evil and are never meant to be used.
On top of that, Pakistan is going to be a very lucrative market for our industry. For example you want to buy 200 railway locomotives from us. How can we be jealous of your "advancement in technology" when you can't even manufacture railway engines ? How can we be jealous when you try to run your cars on water ?
Yes, u r right but you have to also congratulate Russia.
@Avatar: you need to know who are your enemies
@Avatar: Friendship ? We are brothers. Now honestly where do you intend to use Babur NK ? Please, please not the Afghans again.
@Jat: Bro as long as your country keeps buying migs and aircraft carriers, and keep increasing your nuclear arsenal we have to keep up. When you start reducing your weapons, we will do the same. Don't get me wrong I am very pleased with the recent progress between our countries relations and in UK one of my best mates is from India. I hope our countries ties can improve and turn into friendship.
Weapon of mass sovereignty!
Survival in today's world depend on your economic condition unity and most important war technologies yes internal security matters LONG LIVE BE SAFE LOT CONGRATULATIONS TO Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Muhammad Irfan Burney and scientists, engineers for this great work keep it up.
When I was kid i used to play with firecrackers especially the rockets by trying to divert it to my neighbours house and other passerby, one day the the damn thing got an idea of its own and flew right into my house and major part of our clothing and other imflammable utility goods perished. Lesson learned but when will the countries learn.
pakistani stealth technology- pak radars failed to track it, apply stealth
Sardarji, both Pak-India are poor countries and can ill afford such extravaganza----space program, missile technology etc. Having said that, a country that is $17 Trillion in debt, with 50% of its population with no health insurance, its unpaid liabilities equals all of its national wealth, 4 million people in jails across the country, soup kitchens flourishing and its reserve account has $265 billion compared to China's $3.5 Trillion and far less than that of India is spending $650 billion on its military looking for new ways to upgrade its nuclear arsenal and researching for additional ways to kill people wholesale. I believe both India and Pak are on the right track to protect the subcontinent from invasions of the past. If Pakistan did not have a robust nuclear capability to strike back, I strongly believe that it would have been invaded alongside Afghanistan. Instead a covert invasion by proxy was launched against it, The Pak army like the Indian army has 200 years of institutional memory in this region and it overcame a giant that is on its knees so to speak. During the first Iraq war, an Indian ship carrying food to Iraq was boarded by US marines and turned back. A western reporter sarcastically asked the then Indian defence minister George Fernandes what he was going to do. He quickly replied: 'You do not mess with a superpower unless you can hit back with devastating firepower'.
This missile can only act as a weapon of mass sovereignty.
Will this missile provide Pakistan much needed deterrence against American aggression? I wonder what havoc a nuclear tipped Babur will wreak in the sea. It is really a weapon an enemy wil dread.
@Arijit Sharma: Dear whatever,
As far as my knowledge is concerned transfer of missile technology is limited to 300 KM range. While this Missile is showing for 800 KM. Also there is no uproar for transfer of technology of so great violation of Missile control program. This means this technology is definately indigenous and made in Pakistan. On the other hand Brahmos Missile is 290 KM while russians do have longer range missile for the same. This on the contrary means Brahmos is the transfer of technology material and not Babur.
Secondly I really congratulate my army officers and scientist they have shown this material to enemy who is planning to seize our seas. Now with this weapon in the Hands of Pakistan this dream of evil lovers for Pakistan can only remain a dream. Good work Pakis you are dedicated to your work. May Allah help you more.
thanks.
great work keep it up Pakistan Fauj Zindabad and our scientists
@Indians : More than 50% poor Indians don't have toilets so they are creating a lot of dump here and there. That is why Indian rich have started considering for moon. We don't have such situation thus we don't have effective space program and mostly focus on missiles only thus more success rate.
*Pakistan, please tackle your economy on top most priority rather than arming yourself to teeth and spend foreign aid on wasteful expenditure against India who would not even dream to attack Pakistan and retard its economic growth. *
Yeah! Keep up this attitude. Both India and Pakistan are suffering from poverty. Any Indian/Pakistani who denies this, knows he/she is wrong.
@Arijit Sharma: US of A..
@Obaidullah: So what, all Pakistanis have their roots in Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Now let one Pakistani go to Saudi Arabia and try buying property there, or try marrying their girl.
Anyway all these missiles should be named after the ding dongs.
Why do Pakistanis name their missiles after invaders of the sub-continent?
@Singh: In panic they forgot which button to press when...
Generous usage of this will solve your flood water problem.
Missiles have a shelf-life. If you don't use them they will become dud. So use them in testing rather go waste. This will help army how to handle hot potato as well. Besides, testing result in more budget for the military. It is a win-win situation for the Pakistan army and India. Pakistan will end USSR way soon. You know what I mean.
Babur, Gazani, Gori -All these Arab/Turk invaders created havoc mostly in the areas which is called Pakistan today. Pakistan rulers are having such sick mentality to give their missiles the name of despicable invaders.The ancestors of these Pakistanis were looted,killed and raped by these invaders.
@Arijit Sharma, what an innocent question. dear you just congratulate the scientists of Pakistan and all the people who worked hard for a nuclear Pakistan to tackle the India in the region. By the way you look very intelligent. You must have congratulated the America and Russian when India test-fire some missiles. I read in an Indian newspaper that more than 40 per cent people are without toilets in India, so please just make one request to the Indian government to provide them fighter tanks, so that the Indian public could use them as toilets and also people reside on footpaths can use them as shelter. cheer my friend......
It doesnt matter if you paint it or buy it.. You should have them.! People are under estimating the impact of these missiles in the actual theatre of war. This missile will( if it does what they say it does) wipe out entire mechanisd divisions!!
Conrats guys. Always 100% success rate doubt me. Peace & dignity comes with strength. Corruption is largely responsible for Pakistan growing poverty along with bad governance. Modernization of defense capabilities is need of time.
What happen to all high tech of Pakistan when they came for OBL?
Thousands of missiles and atomic weapons could not save USSR from disintegration.These missiles hardly make the people of Pakistan more secure.It is prudent to spend more money on education and health services which are in pathetic state. In any case when the chips are down the generals will do the Gen. Niazi act.
@Malik
You misjudge my comment -- I make the same observation about wasting money on nukes/high tech weapons when India makes the same foolish mistakes. No country should be wasting their resources on weapons that are not needed - especially poor 3'rd World countries like Pakistan and India.
@ Arijit sharma take a bow sir :) lolz congrtae chinese u done that again :)
kinda of people we are seeing in News burning anything that comes in their way or killing people who do not agree with them, this is really very assuring to see that a country filled with that mindset keeps on building weapons.
@ANIL: I agree some missiles were built under joint collaboration between russia and india. But pakistan is different my friend, it buys weapons from china and then paints pakistani flag on it. lol
@Arijit Sharma:
Congratulations on being in denial
@Zalim Singh:
errrr...I presume you're refering to India!
I dont think that the Hatf VIII Missile will enable Pakistan to retain Baluchistan +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ But they are great for fireworks.
@Cautious: Rich, coming from you. Really rich. You too focus on the slums of Mumbai first.
Another multi million dollar boondoggle - no doubt the Taliban are running for shelter because no one in India or America is impressed. Maybe you should focus on the simple stuff like - polio, dengue fever, sewers, classrooms, or just use the money to buy energy.
now make it steath capable and hypersonic
@Avatar: Deter our country ? What for ? You are inviting us through liberal visas and asking us to invest in Pakistan. And you want to buy diesel, electricity and railway locomotives from us. There is some confusion somewhere me thinks.
@Arijit Sharma: Both, and also India.
Very impresive indeed. The missile tech of pakistan is clearly strong.
Disappointed.
To all my Indian mates I say that Survival is more important than education or health and we need this missile technology to Deter your Country and several others. You have to be alive to get education and health.
Poor people rich govts
@Afzaal Khan: For us you have MFN status and liberalized visa regime. That is all.
Nuclear capable but terrorist incapable rather terrorist friendly missiles.
@Jat
Everything we have is for u buddy, don't worry about what we will do with others.
First of all ,you must getrid off bad intention, @moonjely sony:
@Arijit Sharma: Indians should start off with congratulating Russia first. Then they should congratulate themselves for providing us moral support to develop these.
We do not need to afraid .we are in better position .
@moonjely sony:
All this is useless..until the generals can shoot a drone..this is just a waste of tax payers money.
@Pakboy: Noisy neighbor ? I was wondering about the missile having "stealth tech", so that must be to cancel the noise coming from the neighbors. Impressive technology indeed.
@Pakboy: Be nice now, you are not going to use this against the Afghans. Haven't they suffered enough in the last decade that they now have to face the might of Pakistan's missile power ? Or do you want to use them against Iran so that Israel may agree to have diplomatic relations with you ? That's sneaky !!
But I thought terrorists like TTP are settled within 100km range?
@Jat: Who says these are for Americans? We have a noisy neighbor who doesn't let go one opportunity to hurt Pakistan.
This has been quite an update in terms for new tech. deployment. Even if the knowledge was acquired from China/Korea/Russia even then being able to comprehend, implement and maintain such tech. is a testament to the scientists behind these project.
Having said all that, I feel no joy having our best minds wasting away on weapons and killing machines, better have them do something more productive.
Govt and Establishment conquering its own people. What an achievement.
@rikky(India):
And everyone know about indian nuclear test success ratio, even indian know.
@Hairaan: Obviously..
Money well spent! Education/food/healthcare for the pubic can wait because they're doing just fine without it. But God forbid India has bigger guns than us. It's hilarious how we keep preparing for external wars yet continue to lose internal wars everyday.
@rikky(India): These missiles are updated with new tech. Not entirely new build. That's why chances of failure are slim. As the main system is the same
@saeed: you people only knows destruction...no construction
@ANIL: Spot on
@Arijit Sharma: Whenever India tests their missiles, i congratulate russians.
If a few terrorist is playing havoc in country with impunity then I think we should not be much bothered to bring destruction to india
@Arijit Sharma:
India. For prompting us to develop these.
@Arijit Sharma: US.
......and what does this prove ?
You cannot frighten the Americans with such tests. They will still force you at gunpoint to attack the Haqquanis in North Waziristan. Watch this space.
Finally some good news. Keep it up Pakistan.
@Arijit Sharma: You congratulate Russia first
Let's fire "Hatf Education Missile"!
Congratulations to all Pakistanis
This will end our poverty, help make a disaster management system for poor, increase our exports, and provide employment opportunities for our youth.
your people are dying of hunger and you want missiles?
This may help in distributing relief materials to flood affected areas very quickly.
Please give us economic stability, good law and order, political stability, health and education. We dont need missiles we need all the above and my country will be a safe and happy place.
Who do I congratulate - China or North Korea ?
wah, India is really afraid of it.keep it up
Utilize the resources to curb energy crisis, not to increase arsenal.
Any Pakistani missile test which was unsuccessful. Pakistan is the only country which has 100% success rate in missile test. ...amazing man... congrats...
maybe we should also use these missiles for space program
Congratulations to pakistan army and all the scientists who put their efforts for the successful launch,Long Live Pakistan.
Congrats
