Bomb hoax: Karachi-bound flight delayed

Flight was given the go-ahead for take off following a thorough search of the aircraft by the Bomb Disposal Squad.

LAHORE: A Pakistan International Airlines flight’s departure had to be postponed for two hours on Thursday after a bomb threat. It was given the go-ahead for take off following a thorough search of the aircraft by the Bomb Disposal Squad. Police concluded the call was a hoax. Karachi-bound PK 305, an Airbus with 212 passengers on board, was about to take-off at 6pm when a caller claimed that there was a bomb on the flight. The PIA management along with Civil Aviation Authority and Airport Security Services disembarked the passengers and took the aircraft away from the main airport building. A Bomb Disposal squad was called in and searched the cockpit and the cargo. The flight took off at 8pm. After the call, the airport management tightened the security. However, no other flight’s schedule was disturbed.
