Education: Girls’ colleges to get new buses

The Transport Department will purchase the buses while the funds will be provided by the Higher Education Department.

LAHORE: About 269 girls’ colleges will get new buses, a meeting chaired by the Planning and Development Board Chairman Javed Aslam decided on Saturday. The colleges that do not currently have any buses will be given priority. Those that do will get new buses to replace old ones. The Punjab government has approved the scheme, which is expected to cost Rs1 billion. The Transport Department will purchase the buses while the funds will be provided by the Higher Education Department. The Higher Education Department has been directed to make a list of the colleges and also told to send a summary including details of drivers and conductors needed to the chief minister so he can approve the vacancies.
