HYDERABAD:
As Pakistan prepares to celebrate its 65th Independence Day on August 14, Altaf Hussain’s family, which claims he was the first to stitch the flag of Pakistan, continues to demand his posthumous recognition.
“We have been struggling for the last 33 years to get official recognition for my father’s contribution to Pakistan,” said Zahurul Hassan, son of Hussain, at a press conference on Sunday.
According to him, Liaquat Ali Khan had asked his father to prepare the flag in June 1947 in New Delhi. He added that his father used to make clothes for Quaid-e-Azam and other Muslim leaders of pre-partition India.
The family has also preserved a copy of Life magazine of August 18, 1947, in which Hussain’s photograph was published.

This house still has the sewing machines, pieces of fabric, cuttings and stitching threads kept intact in the place Why can’t we also recognised him and have his place turned into a national heritage place.
