Police clash with students in Bahawalpur

A large number of students protesting against a raise in the fee of Bahawalpur Medical College clashed with police.

BAHAWALPUR: A large number of students protesting against a raise in the fee of Bahawalpur Medical College clashed with police on campus on Thursday.

According to reports, the students had surrounded the principal’s office to discuss the fees issue, however the police did not allow them access to the principal.

The DSP and DPO also reached the site, after which the students resorted to stone throwing which injured the arm of the DPO. The police then started manhandling the students, which resulted in a number of students and policemen being injured.

The gates of the college were also shut and students were not allowed to leave.
