Police clash with students in Bahawalpur

A large number of students protesting against a raise in the fee of Bahawalpur Medical College clashed with police.

BAHAWALPUR: A large number of students protesting against a raise in the fee of Bahawalpur Medical College clashed with police on campus on Thursday.

According to reports, the students had surrounded the principal’s office to discuss the fees issue, however the police did not allow them access to the principal.

The DSP and DPO also reached the site, after which the students resorted to stone throwing which injured the arm of the DPO. The police then started manhandling the students, which resulted in a number of students and policemen being injured.

The gates of the college were also shut and students were not allowed to leave.

baa | 13 years ago | Reply i'm foreigner student,.. what i saw is that on 19/08/2010, police came to our hostel- atiq hall...and to my surprise were shouting ''ALLAAHU AKBAR''.. i was sleeping, got up quickly and saw those guys beating every body, destroying monitors and light tubes even mirrors of the hostel,,, after big effort we made them understand that we are foreign students and they got out of the hostel ... but stood just out of the hall and yet they are beating and insulting..... bcz we couldn't believe what they did to us,we went to college the next day (friday) so that we can get answers, or if possible see the principle, but we ended up in jail,.. after so many pressure from embassies we got out of the prison ... but yet there is the damages police made to us....and it was really shame full act........ bye the way we are all muslim.. did they think this is jihad against us .. y they did shout 'allaahu akbar''??? can some budy plz explain

Man who can call police in college on petty issue against unarmed, innocent students can go to any height.. We WANT HIS RESIGNATION!

showkat | 13 years ago | Reply em the student of 4th year and i am foriegner,i was sleeping when police raided our hostl and they broke my door 5police man beat me bruitly and i gt badly injured then next day v went 4 press confernce in frnt of collegexpolice again came and beated and arrestd us abt 30 foreignrz wr arrestd....then for whole day v wr in police custody among us lot studnts wr badly injured an em 1 of thm.then v calld our respctive embasies and wr realsd.is ths fair.cant v raise our hands 4 our rights.plz b unitd till.....

I have seen students beat up a Vice Chancellor in a university in Karachi. It does not get any better. For starters why don't we get rid of this illiterate, torture-loving, elite-praising, inefficient, and corrupt police?
