KARACHI: Violence spread across different parts of Gulistan-e-Johar with incidences of firing after a political party worker was allegedly tortured and killed by police and rangers who raided his house, Express News reported on Sunday.

Five people, including two policemen, were injured in firing incidents in the area. Unidentified men forced shops in the vicinity of Pehlwan Goth and Rabia City to close down.

A heavy contingent of rangers and police was deployed in the area who managed to arrest two of the civilians responsible for the firing incidents. Incidences of firing continued in the area at intervals.

The body of the deceased, who was identified as Liaquat Bangash, was shifted to Jinnah Hospital where a throng of political workers assembled.

Bangash was arrested a year back by Crime Investigation Department (CID). He had more than 12 cases registered against him and had been released just a few days ago.

@Omer : Agreed!

@sick of this nonsense: im sorry but your arguments lack conviction. I'm not a big fan of MQM but as I am from Karachi, I must say it is the only party which actually works for the city.
