Untimely Death: Eighth grader commits suicide

15-year-old old Yaqub of the Muslim Children Academy shot himself after his infuriated father reprimanded him.

An eighth grader committed suicide in Battagram, Charsadda district after he was scolded by his father for missing school following a complaint was made by the school administration.


SHO Saeed Khan told The Express Tribune that fifteen year old Yaqub of the Muslim Children Academy shot himself after his infuriated father reprimanded him. He was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where he succumbed to his injuries.

The boy’s father, Kaleem, told police that the school authorities had complained about his bad behavior. The boy, who had skipped school, was taken back to school and scolded by his father, after which he took his own life.

“When I was on my way to office this morning I saw Yaqub returning from school complaining that he was ill,”the boy’s uncle, Hayatullah, told The Express Tribune.  Changez Khan, principal of the school, said that father of the boy was told that Yaqub fought at school and was frequently absent.
