More than 30 alternative energy projects, which will generate over 1,500MW power for the national grid by next year, are in the pipeline.
Giving details, an official at the Alternate Development Energy Board (AEDB) on Sunday said the wind power projects, which are in advanced stages of implementation, will produce 556MW.
He added new projects for obtaining energy from biomass were also in advance stages and will add more than 60MW to the national grid and help control load-shedding.
The official said AEDB had already completed a Rural Electrification Project under which 3,000 solar home systems were provided to 49 villages in Tharparker district, Sindh.
Solar home systems have also been provided to villages in Jamshoro district, Sindh and Khuzdar district, Balochistan.

Why would Pakistan need foreign help to Solar & Wind energy projects? Isn't there enough talent/expertise available at its universities to head these projects? Why Pakistan need clutches to walk which are made overseas all the time?
@Faisal:
It is already happening and is near completion.Whats the scam?
It's a tough road but will get there insha-Allah.. Just one quote from a K2 Climber when he addressed his team while going for the K2 summit...
It is hard but just say this to yourself that "I am going to keep my head down and keep walking" no matter what, I am just going to continue walking...
Thats all we need... Just keep your head down, and keep walking!!! (I am a hiker and, while I am on the mountains, that is what I tell to myself and it works :-) )
Great... we are coming out of crisis... . Pakistanis are the most resilient nation!
scam- this government can never do this. They are doing such claims for ages.
I will request someone to just study the Per Unit Price of Electricity and they will be astonished. The current projects cost of per unit of Electricity range from more than 12 rupees per unit to as high as 20 Rs per unit. In future govt have to give subsidies to these projects to kept them going . All of these projects are foreign based mostly. In future when the money in the form of Profits will be flown out then rather than wonders it will cripple the Pakistani economy. The coal based, hydal or nuclear energy is the only viable solution of any form in my view as its production cost is less than 4 rupees per unit which would be the most viable form of electricity and also the Profits that will be in billions will remain inside our country.
Good job. This is the way forward for Pak. You can't get into a circular debt with the producer of wind and sunlight :D
