ISLAMABAD:

In a swift reshuffle at the top, the government has swapped appointments of Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control Zafar Abbas Lak and Director General Federal Investigation Agency Javed Iqbal.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Establishment Division on Friday, sources said.

Lak, an officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, is one of the accused in the Ephedrine scandal involving Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son MNA Ali Musa Gilani.

In its inquiry report submitted to Supreme Court, the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) had alleged that Lak was trying to sabotage the inquiry process.

He was recently promoted to grade 21 before his appointment as acting secretary narcotics.

Iqbal, a grade-22 officer, was posted as DG FIA two and a half months back.

Sources said he had some rift with the interior minister during his stint as DG FIA.

The transfers have been announced as the ANF summoned Ali Musa for interrogation again, on April 14.

Let's hope the judiciary behaves equally as tough in dispensing justice as the other side is in evading it.
