50 works by local artists on display

The paintings’ subjects range from landscapes to historical buildings, common life, nature and abstract.

Over 50 artworks by budding artists of Potohar region went up on display at the Rawalpindi Arts Council on Wednesday, said a press release.


The paintings are by Mehmood Ali, Hameed Falak, Ali Shaukat, Irfan Asif, Altaf Ahmed, Asma Burna, Quratul Ain Pasha and Muhammad Afzal.

The paintings’ subjects range from landscapes to historical buildings, common life, nature and abstract.

The medium of the work was oil and water colour — the colour combination made the exhibition exclusive.

Mehmood Ali a senior artist has preserved the heritage of Rawalpindi in his work. “I work for future generations who will not be able to see Rawalpindi as it is now,” Ali said.

Another artist, Pasha, said, “I was struck by the beauty of nature — the trees and flowers in full bloom.”

Her visual diary of memory transformed into the colours of nature as she painted seasons in all its vivid colours.

Raja Hanif said the Rawalpindi artists should be given due respect and encouragement.

The exhibition will continue till April 28.
