ISLAMABAD:

The Awami Party Pakistan (APP) condemned the clash between its workers and those of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) during a Baisakhi festival in Layya.

In a statement issued by APP leaders on Saturday, the party demanded of the Punjab government to take action against the PTI workers who allegedly assaulted four members of APP during the “peaceful Baisakhi celebrations”, said the statement.

The party claims that its members were attacked by PTI workers with sticks, bricks, metal bars and knives.

It also claims that the PTI workers were led by their local leaders.

The statement said that two injured persons were admitted to the district headquarter hospital Layya, while the remaining two were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, for treatment.

A case was registered with the police against 12 PTI workers, of whom one has been arrested, the statement added.
