KARACHI:

The police have been granted one more day to question an alleged Awami National Party activist accused of opening fire outside a poetry recital. They need his help to hunt for two men on the run.

The mushaira was organised in Clifton on Sunday night by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Munir Khan was arrested with a licensed weapon. On Thursday, Munir’s lawyer Qadir Khan opposed an extension in remand, saying that as the investigation was complete, no more physical custody was needed. Judicial Magistrate, South, Inayatullah Bhutto, extended the remand to police custody by a day.
