Test flight: First plane lands at new airport

According to CAA, the first ever 3,200 acre BBIA green-field airport is expected to be completed in 2013.

ISLAMABAD: The first plane carrying Federal Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar landed at the new Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) on Thursday. Work on the 3,200 acre BBIA is progressing at full swing. According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the first ever green-field airport is expected to be completed in 2013. The airport will consist of a passenger terminal building, runways, taxiways, apron and parking bays for wide body aircraft. Additional defence secretary, CAA Director General Air Marshal (retd) Khalid Chaudhry and CAA deputy director general were also present.
