ISLAMABAD: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has demanded a judicial probe into the arrest of two Kashmiri youth – Ahtesham Malik and Tauseef Ahmad Peer – by police in New Delhi. The JI spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The contradictory claims regarding the actual places of arrest of the two youth of Sopore made by the Delhi police and arrestees’ parents make this whole affair confusing. To avoid this, the matter needs to be probed by a high-level impartial judicial authority.” “The police claimed that they have been arrested in Delhi whereas their parents say that they have been picked up in their presence from their homes in Jharkhand,” he added. The JI spokesman said that the matter needed an impartial probe. He also appealed to human rights forums and legal experts to come forward and give their opinion and fight for the innocent victims of the police.
