LAHORE:

Setting aside prior orders by a single bench, Lahore High Court on Tuesday reinstated an additional administration officer of the Children’s Hospital.

The division bench comprised Justice Chaudhry Shahid Saeed and Justice Abdul Waheed Khan.

The court also directed the Health Department to forward Azizur Rehman’s case to the Punjab Public Service Commission for regularisation within two months.

He, however, will not be entitled to draw his salary for the period from his removal to the date of his reinstatement. The period shall be treated as leave without pay. The court ordered the department to create a post of additional administration officer (BS-16).

The petitioner contended in his Intra Court Appeal (ICA) that he had applied for the post of progressive officer (BS-17) advertised in newspapers by the Health Department in 1999. However, he was appointed administration officer on May 7, 1999. He said that his contract was also extended till March 23, 2011.

He further said that under the regularisation policy of the Punjab government, his case was also sent to the authorities concerned but he was dismissed from the service on March 23, 2011.

After hearing the petitioner, the court reinstated him as the addl admin officer.
