EU waiver: ‘Increased exports will be welcomed’

Pakistan will need to improve on the current energy situation to avail the waiver fully, says Samy Saadi.

ISLAMABAD: A press release issued by the German embassy on Friday stated that the European Union (EU) preferential trade deal can help the Pakistani textile industry considerably increase its exports. The EU, which imports around 83.7 billion euros of Pakistani textile products annually, will welcome Pakistan’s increased share in its markets, it said. Samy Saadi, Trade Counsellor and Head of Economic Section, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany said that Pakistan will need to improve on the current energy situation to avail the waiver fully.
