LAHORE: Two people, including a Government College University (GCU) student, were killed in what police called an encounter with criminals on Monday. Husnain Haider, the Nawab Town station house officer, told The Express Tribune that the police tried to stop two suspicious cars at a picket near Shaukat Khanum Hospital. Police said that a man in one of the cars fired at the police officials. They said the policemen chased them, but one of the cars managed to flee. The other car, a Suzuki Cultus, entered Sheraz Town, where a police van followed them. In a shootout between the suspects and the police later both the men in the car were killed. They were identified by the police as Asad and Tanvir. Police said that Asad was named in a bank robbery case. According to SHO, no criminal record of Tanvir was traced at any of the police stations. Rahil Arif, Tanvir’s brother told the police that his brother was a BSc student at the Government College University and was also pursuing a law degree at Punjab University Law College.
