Contempt: Notice issued to transport secretary

Petition says Transport Department had not paid her deceased husband’s salary and other emoluments for eight years.

LAHORE: Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued contempt of court notice to Transport Secretary Muhammad Yousaf, directing him to appear before the court on February 6. Ms Riffat Nazir, a widow, filed a petition stating that the Transport Department had not paid her deceased husband’s salary and other emoluments for eight years. She said that after his death the department had not paid her pension. Nazir submitted that the high court had ordered that all outstanding dues be paid but the department had not done so.
