LAHORE: The Punjab chapter of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested two alleged human traffickers during a raid.

The arrested traffickers had been smuggling people under the guise of a travel and tour agency.

The FIA officials recovered 127 passports belonging to different people and 132 Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) from their possession.

“The traffickers had extorted millions of rupees on the pretext of sending people abroad, particularly European countries,” FIA officials claimed.

Sources in the FIA said that a team, under the supervision of Deputy Director FIA Shahid Hussain, conducted a raid at an illegal and unauthorised travel agency working without license named Unique Star Travel and Tours and arrested Tanveer Ahmad and Waseem Abbas.

A case has been registered against the accused.
