KARACHI: Senior doctors have suggested revising the current admission policy of medical colleges to deal with the shortage of male doctors in the country. They also asked for updating and making the MBBS curriculum interactive for the students. “It may sound selfish but we have to retract outstanding boys from joining other lucrative fields in our national interest,” said Dr Saquib Ansari, associated with a private blood disease treatment centre. Prof. Shahid Abbasi said that most of the students in the medical colleges are girls. He said that even though they are selected on merit they rarely serve in remote parts of the country or in emergencies.
