K-P Assembly Session: Two education bills presented

K-P Regional Languages Authority Act and Universities Act 2011’ passed in provincial assembly.

The ‘Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Regional Languages Authority Act 2011’ and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Universities Act 2011’  were passed within a record 20 minutes in the provincial assembly on Monday.


The first bill, tabled by Provincial Education Minister Sardar Hussain Babak, aims to introduce regional languages in schools for their promotion. “It is the wish of the people to promote widely spoken languages in the province,” reads the bill.

The session was presided over by Abdul Akbar Khan, as both the speaker and deputy speaker were on leave.

In the question answer session, the house was informed that the provincial government has appointed 352 male and 106 female ad hoc teachers to overcome shortage in universities. The session started an hour after the scheduled time and ended in half an hour only.
