Wind project: Korean firm to set up 200MW power plant

Koso president in Pakistan, pursuing Memorandum of Understanding signed with Sindh back in May.

A Korean delegation, that paid a visit to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday, said they are installing 200 megawatts (MW) power plant in the province, which will be raised to 2,000 MW at a later stage.


The six member delegation of Kospo, led by its president Sang Ho Lee, said that they are on a visit to Pakistan to in pursuance of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) - Cooperation of Development Wind Project in the Sindh - which was signed between Sindh Board of Investment and Kospo during Shah’s visit to Seoul.

Lee, on the occasion, said that his firm is interested in solar power generation and water pumping in the agriculture sector. He also expressed his interest in Thar coal project.

Referring to his visit to South Korea in May 2011, Qaim said the latest information about infrastructure, facilities and natural resources available in Sindh had been provided to the Korean investors there.

Wind and Solar is great but we desperately need to build more dams in Pakistan. Dams not only provide electricity but better water management and with population moving to cities, its more important than ever.
